Social (Human) Networking, the Power of #SocialMedia #HereWeGive

By now most of you are aware of my friend Noe Cruz‘s horrible accident, injury, recovery, and his family’s fundraising efforts to bring him back to Sacramento.

Fundraiser for Noe Cruz – Bring Him Home to Sacramento #HereWeGive

What you might not know (or be aware of) is the power of social media. I’m not writing this from the perspective of a social media consultant; I’m writing this from the perspective of someone who appreciates people, relationships, and the power of sharing – and from the perspective of someone who just recently needed that power.

I thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I thank you Sacramento, I thank you my Facebook and Twitter followers, I thank you complete strangers for giving and sharing, and I especially thank those who have gone out of their way to reach out to me and help Noe’s family in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I am speechless. I am grateful.

Believe it or not, I am a very private person. Being social, both online and in person, is a constant battle – I am a background girl by nature. Thanks to my career path, over time I have come to rely on my community and people I’ve never met, and will probably never meet! I’ve used social media for professional reasons, consulted for businesses, and ran marketing campaigns. Today I am using social media for personal reasons and it feels different. That Like, Share, and Retweet has never held so much value.

à Lesson learned: Social media is people. Don’t fear people. We need each other.

Please #Retweet:
